Few producers in Piedmont carry the kind of quiet, almost unquestioned respect that Bartolo Mascarello does. The Mascarello family has never wavered in their philosophy - one Barolo, made the traditional way, blending fruit from Cannubi, San Lorenzo, Rué, and Rocche dell’Annunziata into a single, honest expression of the estate. It’s the kind of continuity you can feel in the glass.

For this dinner, we’re opening an extraordinary run of magnums from 2005 through 2014. It’s not just a vertical - it’s a snapshot of ten very different seasons in Barolo, each preserved in the format collectors covet most for its calm, graceful aging. There aren’t many opportunities to explore Mascarello like this, side by side, in a room small enough that everyone can really dive in.

The Magnums: 2005–2014

A full decade of Bartolo Mascarello Barolo, all in 1.5L:

2005–2007 — Classic, savory, lifted acidity, beautiful structure.
2008–2010 — Benchmark vintages; roses, cherry, tar, incredible depth and longevity.
2011–2012 — Warmer years with generous fruit, still balanced and charming right now.
2013–2014 — Cooler, more linear, high-toned, mineral, and built to age.

Each of these wines reflects the same guiding hand and the same belief in non-intervention and vineyard integrity. When you taste them as a set, you really feel the story—how the land shifts, how the seasons pull forward different shades of the same soul.

The Evening

  • A side-by-side tasting through all ten magnums

  • A paired menu from the team at Lyla Lila

  • A small, intimate room meant for real conversation, not performance

  • A rare chance to dig into the evolution of one of Barolo’s most meaningful estates

Why This Matters

A decade of Bartolo Mascarello magnums isn’t something you just stumble across. It’s special. It’s intimate. And it’s a tribute to a producer who has shaped the way so many of us understand Barolo.
